A visit to a fish Heaven

The admin of Goa Foodie (Gurgaon Foodie’s sister group), and one very knowledgeable foodie on Goan food recommended this restaurant situated at Ponda. So of course I landed up there. The restaurant décor is basic and I was guided to a covered outdoor location in the back yard of the restaurant.

Service is quick and also basic. Ordering is easy and service quick – the serving staff tells me what is available and I order it all. We start with my favourat fish in Goa, Chonak (Rs 460) or red snapper along with Prawns Rava Fry (Rs 300).

I love the flaky fish and the fresh prawns. Next came Surmai Fish Thali (Rs 200), accompanied with Papad Kismur (Rs 50) and Plain Solkadi (Rs 25). While the fish thali was competent with a great clams curry, the surmai fry was more fry than surmai. Papad Kismur was the highlight of the lunch and so was an unusual sol kadi that was without coconut milk and tasted like a delicious jal jeera with kokum.

Overall an enjoyable meal. Worth visiting.
