I don’t think Nelson Wang or his invention of Chicken Manchurian or his famous restaurant China Garden needs any introduction, especially to those of us who have grown up in Mumbai. Since the restaurant has arrived in Gurgaon, it has been trending on Gurgaon Foodie group for just the wrong reasons, with diners not having been happy with the levels of service particularly. So we three decide to make this our anonymous admin lunch venue and experience he food and the service first hand both of whom turn out to be top notch.

I suspect thanks to Navaratri season, the restaurant is quite empty which may have contributed to the service being so good. We are seated promptly and in no time, we have the menu and water served to us. Food too comes promptly and at the right temperature.

We start with the Cantonese classic, Prawn Cheung Fun (3 Pieces, Rs 450). It is superb with fresh plump prawns tucked inside a velvety soft and translucent crepe. Equally delicious is the next starter of Scallop Dumpling (4 pieces, Rs 490).

The fish balls called Fee Yan (4 pieces, Rs 360) are spongy and moreish. BBQ Roast Pork Buns (Rs 340) are competently executed.

Crab Meat Schezwan (Rs 880) is sheer indulgent luxury. The quality and sweetness of crab meat is impressive.

Pork Spare Ribs or Loo Phai Kut (Rs 595) is a hearty dish with good amount of yielding pork fat sticking to the meat. This is one time one can go Keto just for the moment!

The problem with ordering mains before the starters are served is that one always regrets having ordered so much. But due credit to the chef, despite being pretty full by the time starters end, we happily soldier on with the mains. Vegetables Yellow Bean (Rs 530), the only vegetarian dish on our meal is crisp and delicious.

Crispy Fish Butter Garlic (Rs 760) is another indulgent dish ably accompanied by Yong Chu Fried Rice (Rs 550) with Chinese sausages.

If the restaurant maintains its food and service standards, both of whom have been superlative today, it can easily take the top slot among Gurgaon’s Chinese restaurants. Based on today’s experience, we heartily recommend this one!
