Awesome cocktails and food

Owned and operated by proudly Goan Sommelier, Prahlad Sukhtankar, the Black Sheep Bistro (BSB) is one of the most happening places in Goa. The food here is, as BSB describes it, "globally inspired" cuisine made with high quality, locally sourced, seasonal produce. The cocktails are different and exciting. Service is top class, a rarity in Goa, and the setting is an old Portuguese house which during the day can have a bit more light with seating that can be more comfortable.

                                                   The Menu

The drinks come first, which is a Goa tradition. Dill Fling (Rs 275) and Amante Picante (Rs 275) have creaminess provided by egg white, giving them a different taste, close to but not as sour as Peru’s Pisco sour.

The cocktail that fascinates us is The Paan (Rs 275), which is the taste of Calcutta paan in a cocktail glass, with the fennel and the mouth freshening taste that is so typical of a good paan, yet not too sweet. Many glasses of this drink can be consumed.

In the starters, Crispy Prawns (Rs 275) are competent. I love the beautiful flavour and texture of Fish Cakes (Rs 225).

My favourite is Chorizo Pao (Rs 195) with a crisped bread topped with some great Goan sausages.

In the mains, Lamb Ossobucco (Rs 450) is the only miss in the meal. This Milanese delicacy needs the lamb to be cooked some more to be enjoyable. Pork Poutine (Rs 430) is a meaty indulgence with its pulled pork, gravy, fried egg and cheese.

Pepper Crusted Fish (Rs 480) is cooked just right.

BSB is one of the very few places that I have no hesitation in recommending to everyone to try. So whenever you do land up in Goa, get properly “Paan-ed”!
