The review was done after paying for the meal

After a long time, I had an exciting food experience that I must share with you all. It was the Sichuan Hot Pot at Friends restaurant. Hot pot, also known as steamboat, is a Chinese cooking method, prepared with a simmering pot of soup stock at the dining table. While the hot pot is kept simmering, ingredients are placed into the pot and are cooked at the table, in a manner like fondue. Hot pot dishes typically include thinly sliced meat, leaf vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, and seafood. The cooked food is usually eaten with a dipping sauce.

I had gone here with a vegetarian friend. Once we were seated, we were asked to choose from a list of things we wanted from a long list of ingredients, and if we wanted a normal heat broth or a spicy hot broth. My vegetarian friend chose tofu, mushrooms and Chinese cabbage while I chose fish and prawns. While the table was set up with the hot pots (veg spicy for my friend, nonveg spicy for me) placed on the induction heater built into the table, we were asked to help ourselves with the sauces that we would like to dip our cooked hotpot ingredients in.

We settled in with two bubbling hot, sooper spicy broth pots as we started cooking the seafood for me and veggies for my veggie friend.

The next half hour was one of silence, simultaneous numbing (thru Sichuan peppers) and scalding (thru the boiling, bubbling broth) of tongues, accompanied by an inexplicable feeling of joy.
