As I enters this restaurant, what strikes me are the clean, beautiful interiors that are tastefully done up in subdued tones, and splashes of colours on the chairs. The menu is eclectic world cuisine, and the mood of the place is cheerful.

We settle down and I order a Very Berry Khatta (Rs 550), a vodka based cocktail that is familiar and oh so exciting. It takes me some effort to stop at one drink. It is one must have drink here.

For starters we decide to celebrate the Hapoos by ordering a shrimp and mango salad (Rs 450) which surprisingly is a great combo. For the vegetarians there is a meaty umami filled mixed mushrooms (shiitake, oyster, wood ear) veg salad (Rs 360) which is a delight with its various textures and flavours.

In the mains, we order a veg Mapo Tofu (Rs 490), which is an interesting interpretation of the popular Chinese dish from China's Sichuan province. It consists of tofu set in a spicy chilly and bean-based sauce. Roast Leg of Lamb (Rs 650) is well cooked and enjoyable.

I really like the banana leaf steamed tamarind and chilly rawas (Rs 650), which is spicy, tart, flaky, light – a treat for all the senses. The veg creamed leeks, mushrooms and sweet potato veg lasagna (Rs 490) is enjoyed by my vegetarian friends, as is evident from their licked up plate.

We finish with an unexpected, surprising Mango Tiramisu (Rs 495). Here tiramisu is constructed in a mango way, and it works beautifully!

The Sassy Spoon is a great hangout place with amazing food. A must visit in Mumbai.
