After the resounding success of The Bombay Canteen, Chef Floyd Cardoz is back with another wonderful eatery called O Pedro. The restaurant serves a combo of Goan, Portuguese and European food. So do the shacks in Goa, you may think but you would be wrong in thinking so.  Because this is real good food in a great setting. The entire restaurant has vaulted ceilings, vintage-style furniture, potted plants and summery drapes to block out the afternoon sun. Not to miss, lots of colour.

We are here for lunch, and hoping to sample dishes that are more than the Goan staples, and I am not disappointed. Food is by and large delicious.

That is not something that I can say for the starters that are too muted to be spunky Goan food. Choriz Tacos (Rs 390) are not piquant enough. House Baked Sourdough Poe with whipped pork rosemary butter and choriz butter (Rs 265) has poes that are fresh and toothsome, though the two butters don’t have the hit of pork or the spiciness of choriz. But after that it is all yumminess.

Seabass Ceviche (Rs 495) is lovely. Though I do not care much for the crunchies on top, the ceviche itself is fresh and perfectly cured. Pork Ribs (Rs 525) are literally falling off the bone and are an indulgent treat. It is one dish I will be back again and again in this restaurant for. With all that juicy and yielding pork fat, this is the stuff dreams are made of.

Coconut Cream Ale (Rs 395) is a homemade brew and is refreshing. Vanilla Bean Ice cream (Rs 100) has that much forgotten vanilla flavour and beans and is the perfect way to end the meal.

All in all great food. Much recommended.
