One fine morning, Olive bistro at cyber hub disappeared, and a new being called Olly appeared in its place. It was intriguing and I gladly accepted the chance to figure this one out, when I got invited to check out the food at Olly. I land up at Olly at lunch time and meet Jyotika Malik, the development chef at Olive and the chef of the restaurant. The place certainly looks brighter and lighter than before and so does the menu. “It is a world café meant for office goers of cyber city” explains Jyotika when I ask her what Olly really is. And she would know how to run a world cafe, having recently come back after over a decade of running cafes all over the world.

At the chef’s suggestion, I start with two rather green but quite delicious drinks. Green Juice (Rs 255) with kale, green apple, baby spinach, pineapple, mint is decidedly vegetal, and Ginger Ninja Spritzer (Rs 275) with apple juice, lime juice, fresh ginger, fresh lemongrass, honey, topped with soda is a pleasant concoction.

The accompanying Prawns Mellow Pomelo salad (Rs 645) with raw mango, cilantro, mint, shallots, greens, peanuts, sesame seeds, chilly, star anise vinegar with prawns is a good salad, though I would have preferred a more punchy dressing.

From the small plates section of the menu I choose to taste dishes. Prawns Pil Pil (Rs 415) has plump and juicy prawns cooked just right with olive oil, chilly, garlic, and parsley and is delicious. However my favourite Vietnamese roll called Out Of Vietnam (Rs 315) Rice Paper Roll disappoints. The outer rice paper wrap is too thick and the dish has obviously been made in advance compromising on the crunch and texture.

In the mains, Greek Omelet (Rs 295) stuffed with spinach, caramelized onions, roasted red pepper, feta, and toasted sourdough is tasty and moreish, though it is unlikely to impress any French chef. The highlight of the lunch is the flaky and juicy Ginger Salmon (Rs 895) with black sesame, stir fried spinach, cashew, chilly and teriyaki sauce with its exciting umami loaded taste.

Olly is just what you need in case you are looking for a light meal in pleasant environs.
