It is hot June summer and my colleague and I land up in Sarojini Nagar for some work. We are looking for some lunch options when we see a modern looking building in an otherwise worn out looking market. At a whim we decide to explore and come across this rustic looking restaurant with a tractor stationed in it. Of course we enter this place and are quickly seated with the menu.

Hungry that we are, the order is decided and placed in a record 30 odd seconds. As we impatiently wait for the food, chomping on the complementary onions and pickles provided by the restaurant, we glance around at the décor of the restaurant which tries its best to look like a dhaba with its seating and the tractor. And finally the ten minute long wait is over and we are served with our starter, Fish Amritsari (Rs 395). The fish is Basa as expected though it is well seasoned and crisply fried.

For the main course, we have ordered Dhaba Mutton Curry (Rs 525) with Hari Mirch ki Roti (Rs 35) and Tandoori Roti (Rs 25). The first dish served has an OD of khada masala with pieces that have been over-bhoonoed and have gone dark. The chef is summoned who agrees with the defects and redoes the curry, which the second time around is well balanced and tasty. It goes amazingly well with hari mirch roti.

We finish the meal with Dhaba Tea (Rs 45) which is amazing. It is easily the best chai I have had in NCR so far. Milky with the right amount of sweetness, the chai really hits the spot.

Rang De Basanti is a great option for those in Sarojini Nagar.
