Landed at Goa airport post lunch time. My colleagues and I both were pretty hungry and in the mood for a good fish thali. We came here for lunch because the other branch in Panjim shuts at 3 pm and this one stays open through the afternoon. In retrospect, a mistake. They don’t have much clientele so they don’t have the lunch fish thali. Also the food here is not even a patch on the other branches.

The place is nifty I must say. Looks like a typical angrezon-ke-jamaane-ka-gymkhana kind of place. Add to it the fact that it is situated on the sea shore, it is a good place to hang around in. Deprived of the thali, we settled on the usual dishes.

First to come was my go-to choice for fish in Goa, Chonak Rawa Fry (Rs 590). This turned out to be the first disappointment of the day. The fillet of fish was too thin and the rawa batter too thick so the taste and the texture of the fish were lost. Mutton Vindaloo (Rs 375; no Pork at Ritz Classic) was the second one - had a good gravy but the mutton was too hard and chewy.

Prawn Curry (Rs 385) was where the restaurant was on terra firma, it was as delicious as ever. Ordered on a whim Mushroom Xacuti (Rs 245) was surprisingly good.

I would come here for a drink or two but not sure it would be my choice for a meal.
