Shizusan is a recently opened close-to-authentic Asian restaurant in the restaurant supermarket that is called Lower Parel mill area. Spread out over two floors, it has a Japanese-themed lower level and an extensive Asian menu.

Keeping with the theme, we start Japanese with a colourfully plated Sashimi Platter (Rs 1295) with salmon, tuna and yellow tail. While the fish is fresh, the sashimi could have been cut thinner.

Chicken Xiao Long Bao (Soupy Dim Sums; Rs 325) from Shanghai are next and are delicious. Vietnamese Goi Cuon (Chilled Rice paper Rolls; Rs 295) are competent.

I would have preferred my Tenderloin Carpaccio (Rs 465) without mayo, but as such it is a tasty dish. Korean Kimchi Jigae (Rs 295) or kimchi soup is a spicy treat.

For the main course, Black Pepper Lobster (Rs 750) is a delicious indulgence, well worth the price. Thai Pad Ki Mao Prawn (Rs 475) is well made and rather toothsome. In drinks, Vietnamese Ca Phe Da (Rs 185) can be stronger, but Little Buddha Tea (Infusion of Green Tea, Chamomile, Pineapple, Papaya, Liquorice, Sandalwood, Red Peppercorn) is fragrant, flavourful and addictive. For me it is the high point of the meal.

Shizusan serves good food. A meal here is quite a treat for the senses.
