The best thing about Gurgaon from a foodie point of view is the multitude of small restaurants dishing out tasty food at Galleria, Supermart, Baani Square and other markets allowing small format restaurants. One such restaurant is the recently opened Bowl Factory. At the invitation of the owner Sandeep Sridhar, Shefali, Shivendu and I decide to do our next admin meeting here.

Situated next to Crusty’s pizzeria on the first floor of Galleria, we take a spiral staircase to the almost comfortable mezzanine seating, and make a start with some dimsums. Bok Choy, Spinach and Water Chestnut (6pcs @ Rs 175) are full of vegetal goodness and taste. Asian BBQ Chicken (6 pcs @ Rs 250) are also nice in a curious way with the unusual combination of dim sums and BBQ sauce. Prawns Har Gao (6 pcs @ Rs 320) are dry on the inside and are missing the succulence of fresh prawns, so not really enjoyable.

The eatery bounces back with some great Vietnamese Spring Rolls (Rs 269), which have crunchy veggies wrapped in a rice paper sheet along with a Mango reduction. Lemongrass Chicken Skewer (Rs 299) with minced chicken infused with lemongrass on a lemongrass skewer makes for some of the best chicken seekh kabab I have had in Gurgaon.

Laotian Som Tam Salad (Rs 299) is crunchy and refreshing. Ebi (Prawn) tempura (Rs 379) is a competent crunchy dish.

Now we come to the main course and choose to make our own themes. I go for Prawns with Udon noodles in Schezwan Sauce (Rs 349) and am very pleased with my selection.

Shefali goes for an ambitious combination of prawns with jasmine rice in Kung pao sauce (Rs 349). Perhaps I am biased but I prefer my combination.

The Bowl Factory clearly shows promise, and with they at the cusp of launching their new menu, things can only get better. I wish them good luck.
