Some good, some average

Having heard many praises of the original Town Hall in Khan Market, I went here for lunch with lots of expectations.
Located in the new tony Horizon Centre at Golf Course road, the ambience is charming and old-world. It was packed probably being a Sunday and hence very noisy, the not-so-soft music didnt help either. The menu had dishes from several continents but we decided to stick to Asian.

For starters we ordered Salmon Sashimi (Rs 395), Ebi Tempura Sushi (Rs 895), Pork Belly Bao (Rs 545), Chicken and prawn Siu Mai (Rs 375).

They do not have a liquor license yet so we ordered a Lemon Ice Tea (Rs 145) and Watermelon Kaffir Lime Cooler (Rs 225). Neither was noteworthy.

Salmon Sashimi was fresh but rather stingy at just 2 smallish pieces. Sushi was good, presented beautifully with a delicious Wakame (sea-weed) salad on the side.

Pork Belly Bao was average, the pork wasnt that succulent and loaded with more of raw capsicums than pork belly. Tom yum Prawns soup (Rs 345) was flavourful with generous amount of prawns.

In mains we asked them to get the Crispy Lamb (Rs 445) from the starters section and Town hall Noodles (Chicken - Rs 475) and stressed to get it together. As I feared we got the Crispy lamb first, on reminding that we wanted it together, the noodles came after a while. The Crispy lamb was good, Noodles were ok but they were rice vermicelli noodles, they should mention in the menu that its rice noodles or offer a choice between regular and rice noodles (many kids including my daughter prefer the regular noodles).

The big disappointment was that my daughter's fave Chicken Siu Mai never came even after reminding them 3-4 times, we later asked to cancel it when we were halfway through the main course and it was still nowhere in sight.

By now, we had a feeling that dessert will take time to come so we skipped that. Our bill was made incorrectly with a wrong item added to it, so we asked them to correct that.

Overall we had some good dishes, the ambience was good, but rather confused service which hopefully are just teething issues. It is surely more expensive than other similar places but I do intend to be back for their sandwiches and burgers which were looking hearty and seemed more value for money.
