Glass House is the All Day Dining restaurant at Hilton Garden Inn Gurgaon. When Swati Nagar, the hotel’s energetic MarCom manager got in touch inviting me for a review, my first reaction was to try and duck out of it. But when I noticed steak on the menu, in a city starved of good steaks, it was an opportunity too good to pass. So I arrive at the hotel fingers crossed hoping for a juicy tenderloin steak.

Glass House lives up to its name with large windows allowing natural light to filter into this airy restaurant. Joining Swati is Sous Chef Mukesh Kumar, who promises to dish out some good dishes.

I start the tasting with Salmon Carpaccio with small bits of lemon, black olives, and potatoes (Rs 450). The dish is competent though the fish could have been fresher. Nonya Salad (Rs 350) is refreshing though there is nothing of Nonya or Malaccan straits in it.

Things certainly pick up with the mains. Grilled Prawns (Rs 950) are plump, juicy and cooked just right, making them retain their natural crispness. A most enjoyable dish.

Then comes the dish I am here for. I want my Glass House Signature Grilled Tenderloin Steak (Rs 750) cooked rare, and bloody rare it is.

A bite of it makes the carnivore in me swoon. There is nothing like a good steak, and a good steak this is. So if you are ever in mood to get your teeth into steak, Glasshouse is most recommended.
