The review was done after paying for the meal

I was at Kochi hankering for some good seafood, when a friend suggested going to the restaurant at Casino hotel called Fort Cochin Seafood Specialty Restaurant. We landed here for dinner (the restaurant is an outdoor one open only in the evening), settling into our chairs, enjoying the cool monsoon breeze. The place was green and beautiful and the service prompt.

The first dish we ordered was Chimichurri Charred Octopus tentacles (Rs 495). It had perfectly cooked, melt in mouth octopus tentacles with a piquant sauce that just elevated the dish. Semolina crumbed Anchovies with fried shallots, curry leaf aioli and charred lemon (Rs 375) with fresh little fish fried with a crispy coating and a aioili dip made for some perfect munchies for our beer.

In the main course we ordered Prawn/Crab Seafood Boil with local spices, corn and potato (Rs 1195). Now as per Wikipedia, seafood boil is the generic term for any number of types of social events in which shellfish is the central element. Regional variations dictate the kinds of seafood, the accompaniments and side dishes, and the preparation techniques. And Kerala being the hub centre of spices made this dish a memorable one. Because seafood boil spiked with freshly ground whole spices made every morsel of this dish a delight. Accompanying this was the catholic version of appam, kallappam (Rs 125) which is essentially real soft appam with the mound in the centre missing.

If you are ever in Kochi, this place is a must go to!
