La Plage is easily one of the finest places to eat in Goa. Located on Ashwem beach and hidden behind palms and bushes, it is a happy place serving really delicious food. In terms of pricing it is expensive when you compare it to other shacks, but then it is not like any other shack that I have ever eaten in. And compared to NCR, it is priced on par with dhabas and full “paisa vasool”. With the restaurant being literally on the beach, this really is the place to imbibe Goan susegad. Reservations are recommended here.

We start the meal with the freshest Kingfish Ceviche (Rs 460) where you can taste the ocean and a perfect Beef Carpaccio (360).  Fish Souffle (Rs 560) is sheer poetry that melts in the mouth (if poetry could ever melt in the mouth that is!).

Grilled King Prawns (Rs 770) are competent and the Marseille icon Bouillabase de La Plage, a fish soup in which the ingredients change as per the catch of the day is a bit of a disappointment due to the paucity of crustaceans.

Beef Steak (Rs 590) is cooked perfect rare, and the Beef Burger (Rs 490) is most comforting.

In desserts, Baba Au Rhum (450) is interesting, and Baby Chocolate Fondant (Rs 290) is sinful.

La Plage is a must visit for anyone in Goa. The venue is awesome, and the food a wonderful pampering experience. Afterall, that is precisely why we visit Goa, isn’t it?
