Residency Road is a hub centre of Andhra Food in Bangalore, with three Andhra restaurants now. Akshara Authentic Andhra Restaurant, as it is called is a regular mid-market restaurant with forgettable interiors, and as we are to find out, forgettable food.
We start with a decent Crab Soup (Rs. 110) that is unlike what normal crab soups are, with crab claws rather than crab flesh floating around, and aggressive spicing. Mushroom 65 (Rs. 180) are a case study of what not to do with a mushroom dish. They are chopped into small pieces and then over fried in an artificially coloured orange batter, making it just like an indeterminate pakoda.

In the main course, Mutton Paya (Rs. 290) has a robust Andhra gravy, though the paya has not been cooked enough for it to have rendered its fat. Sangati Chapala Pulusu (Rs. 260) has streamed ragi balls with the iconic fish curry except that it does not taste like Chapala pulusu. It is an over soured and somewhat pointless interpretation of Chapala pulusu by the chef.

Sangati Natukodi Pulusu (Rs. 260) or chicken curry with ragi balls is also fairly pointless.

I did not enjoy the meal here, and would call this restaurant fairly avoidable.
