Promising, with some hiccups

My first instinct before doing this review was to decline politely, since the menu looked totally mainstream with no really interesting dishes to try. But when Vaibhav Jain of Foodport assured me that this was just the beginning and he would make what I taste an interesting experience.

Foodport is a yet another meal delivery service based out of Gurgaon. It started a few months ago, with a new menu everyday of Indian and some International dishes.

Among the dishes I taste, Banana Wrap Fish with Ponzu Sauce (Rs. 250) has the potential of being a good dish but when you open it, it looks like an average biryani, with basa fish to be discovered way under and much later. The Kimchi Salad served with it is weak and not at all Kimchi salad.

Sundried Tomato Zucchini Rolls With Tomato Ragu (Rs. 200) has Zucchini rolled with cottage cheese served on a bed of Tomato Ragu. It is a delicious dish, and a must order from here. The crispiness of zucchini pairs really well the creamy fresh paneer stuffing and the tomato ragu.

BBQ Cottage Cheese Sandwich (Rs. 120) again can be a decent dish but the paneer is too dry. Bhuna Chicken Pita Pockets (Rs. 150) again is promising with well-seasoned and cooked chicken keema but the pita tends to disintegrate in the hand.

The food by and large ranges from ok to tasty. Delivery time for me was an issue because it was late by 40 minutes. Maybe these are teething issues, and as the company gains more experience it will get better. I wish them all the best!

Please note: This review was done on an invitation from foodport to taste their food, and when the food was sent to the author’s home, no bill was presented to the author. While the author assures you of objectivity, the review may be influenced by the extra care and attention the food samples got before being sent for review.
