BKC seems to be the most happening eating place in the country right now. I went to two new restaurants there and was wowed with both of them. The first one is Hello Guppy, Olive group’s all-day café in Jet Airways-Godrej’s brand-spanking-new glass-and-metal building. The interiors are great with the furniture and the décor looking very Japanese pop art retro. It is like an oasis of funk in the middle of a rather corporate looking building that houses it.

And the food is equally colourful and amazing. Chef Vikram Khatri of the Ai and Guppy by Ai fame has delivered the best of casual Japanese dining yet again. I start with Chirashi Seafood Salad (Rs 379) with prawn, tuna, crabstick, and mixed greens and am wowed by it. Avocado Cucumber Roll (Rs 310) has a lovely texture.

For the mains, Grilled Tenderloin Rice Bowl (Rs 549) has perfectly cooked meat with a gravy that just hits the spot. And Chasu Ramen Miso (Rs 599) is sheer porky delight swimming in a heavenly miso broth.

The Espresso Cake (Rs 240) is a perfect end to a perfect meal.
