When Gurgaon Foodie Puja Dhawan, one of the people behind the newly opened Wokanoodle at Qutub Plaza sent me her menu to taste the food, I discovered three of my favourite on the menu. With Puja being a fellow Gurgaon Foodie, this was an added reason why I had to check it out. The food arrived smartly packed at the appointed hour,

The first dish, Goi Cuon (Rs 249) that I tasted was vegetarian Vietnamese rice paper rolls. While the rolls were fresh, the proportion of various ingredients was a trifle out of synch. With lesser rice and greater amount of veggies this can be a good dish.

On the other hand, Vietnam’s national dish Pho (chicken; Res 209) had all the right notes. At long last I was tasting the real thing, after a search for it all over the country.  Pho is a spice & herb based Vietnamese street soup- with Thai flat noodles. I would put it in the must taste category for its perfect broth and flavours.

                               Vietnamese Pho

Vietnamese Fish (Rs 459), tossed with cherry tomatoes, spring onions, zucchini and mint was fresh and delicious. Sayur serum ladah (Rs 329) or Indonesian style vegetables in black pepper sauce had a great punch of pepper with fresh vegetables cooked just right.

Chicken lona kai (open faced sticky rice dimsums Rs 249) was also an enjoyable dish.

The only dish that disappointed in the tasting session was Kare Kambing, Malaysian lamb curry served with Malabar Parottas (Rs 389), since the meat was underdone and the parottas were dry.

If Wokanoodle maintains its quality, and as long as it continues to serve authentic tastes and flavours, it is bound to do well. I will definitely be repeating Pho!
