Gecko is a shack on Arambol beach that we ventured into while we were there. Though it is a modest shack behind a rows of beach umbrellas, and not really a pretty shack, it does some mean steaks. Their seafood is great too. Service is cheerful and rates are by and large reasonable, apart from the lobster. While on lobster, I have never managed to understand the charm and the prices of lobster. It is ok, but given a choice, I would prefer medium prawns any day to lobster.

We start with a garamagaram Seafood Pizza (Rs 250) which hits the spot. Shakshuka (Rs 180) is an Isreali dish of Tunisian origin. It has eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes, chili peppers, and onions, often spiced with cumin. Being an egg lover, I super enjoy this dish.

Coming to the grills, Seafood Sizzler (Rs 300) is plated in quite an unorthodox way and is enjoyable. Grilled Prawns (Rs 280) are served with the heads, which I love.

Grilled Lobster (Rs 1500) has too little flesh for too much money. The star is the steak in the perfectly cooked Surf and Turf (Rs 470).

Shacks are what make Goa what it is. Love the simplicity of the food here, and of course the prices !
