Indian Grill Room (IGR) is a family restaurant in the format made famous by Barbecue Nation It is probably one of Gurgaon's largest restaurants with 8,000 sq feet inside and10,000 outside, with well-appointed interiors. What sets it apart is a focus on Indian cuisine through the use of various Indian grilling techniques like the tawa, charcoal grill, pathar and tandoor. What one misses though is the live grills on every table as one would get in other similarly formatted restaurants.

I am here at the invitation of the restaurant to taste their grills and curries. As I seat myself the kababs start rolling in and are served on the table. Gosht Galawat is impressive and showcases the expertise of Chef MP Bhandari and his team. Murgh Achari Tikka and Bhagare Jhinga are also worth repeating.
Murgh Achari Tikka Bhagare Jhinga
Murgh Methi Tikka and Macchi Nimbu Mirch are both competent, though Sulemani Seekh disappoints because it is too dry and hard.
Murgh Methi Tikka Macchi Nimbu Mirch
In the vegetarian kababs, Dahi ke Kebab are juicy on the inside and crisp on the outside.

Subz Galawat are nice, and the quality of paneer in Ajwaini Paneer Tikka is superb. Bhuni Chaat, Navratan Seekh, Hindu Kush Kebab and Panch Phoren Khumb are average.
Bhuni Chat Panch Puran Khumb
Coming to the main course buffet (if you stil have space in the stomach), Parsi Dal Gosht and freshly made Chicken Kofta Masala are both great. Bhuna Murgh is nice, though Parsi Chicken Berry Pulao has no connection to the Parsi classic. Macher Kalia again is not Bengali. On the veg side, Paneer Lababdar and Makai Palak are good because of the sheer quality of the paneer. Kashmiri Dum Aloo and al Makhani are nice though the live counter of Soya Keema Matar and Subz Masala disappoints.
Navratan Seekh Galauti
At the dessert counter, go for Paan ice-cream for its sheer novelty. Chana Dal Halwa is good too.
By and large, the dining experience here has an edge over other places due mainly to the sheer variety and quality of the kababs, and the vast space the restaurant sits in. So whenever the urge to have some good kababs hits you, this is one place you could actively consider.
