It is foolhardy to say the least to land up at a top restaurant in Goa for a Christmas lunch without a reservation at the peak of the peak hour. Well we did just that and so had to wait an hour for the table at The Fisherman’s Wharf at Panjim. The wait was very much worth it and the meal was highly enjoyable one.

Like many other restaurants in Goa, this one too is situated in a heritage bungalow in central Panjim. While it is known to serve great Goan food, what made this lunch special was the fact that the restaurant was overflowing with local Christmas revelers with hardly a tourist in sight. And Goan bands know how to belt out dance numbers and the diners know how to get into the groove and dance.

We started the meal with a not-so-impressive Goan Fish Croquette (Rs 380) which was followed by a superb Prawn wrapped with Bacon (Rs 430).

The highlight of the lunch was a beautifully cooked Grilled Lobster (Rs 2000) which was fresh and perfectly cooked with just the right amount of butter.

In the main course one had a delicious Fillet Mignon (Rs 550) and Fish Ambotik (Rs 390) accompanied by the Konkan sannaa.

This meal made it a memorable Christmas. A must visit when in Goa.
